Non–Living Signs of the Zodiac

Although sometimes referred to as 'the archer', Sagittarius is not exactly a living creature since it exists only in mythology.

According to Wikipedia, "Greek mythology associates Sagittarius with the centaur Chiron, who mentored Achilles, a Greek hero of the Trojan War, in archery." Various other Zodiac signs are associated with specific creatures from Greek mythology: for example, Aries (the flying ram that rescued Phrixus and Helle, the children of the Boeotian king Athamas and provided the Golden Fleece) and Gemini (the twins Castor and Pollux, from Greek and Roman mythology and of uncertain parentage).
